The Passion of Paul Ross – Feature Film: Sound Designer, Sound Effects Editor, Foley Recordist, and Foley Editor

This film is in the final stages of post production right now. Matthew Boudreau of Aural Stage Studios is doing most of the sound design and sound effects editing, while I’m working on several key elements of the sound design. In addition, I’m recording, editing, and mixing all of the Foley for this film. I’ll post more information about this movie once it’s been released.

The Cleansed – Season 3: Sound Designer, Sound Effects Editor, Foley Recordist, and Foley Editor

Equal parts “Mad Max” and “The Stand,” the post apocalyptic saga The Cleansed is set in a world 15 years after the collapse of the world as we know it.

The sound design for seasons 1 & 2 was done by the talented Matthew Boudreau, of Aural Stage Studios. I’m glad to have had to opportunity to create all of the sound for season 3, which was the series finale. Season 3 has 10 episodes, which each episode being around 35 – 40 minutes, and the finale being around 52 minutes. There’s a lot of good material to listen to here!

Gnomon School of Visual Effects – Promo Video: Re-Recording Mixer

I mixed the music, sound effects, and dialogue for the main promo video for Gnomon School of Visual Effects, Game + Animation, which was shot by Nick Sherman of Fou Films. In addition to the Re-Record Mixing I also did some minor dialogue editing and de-noising. Click play on the video below to hear the finished product.

Wildstar – 4-Part Promo Video: Re-Recording Mixer and Sound Designer

I mixed this 4-part video series that was shot by Nick Sherman of Fou Films for the game Wildstar, which was created by Carbine Studios. In addition to the Re-Record Mixing I also did some minor dialogue editing and de-noising.

Although a lot of sound design in this series was directly from the game itself, I did some sound design as well and created all of the transitional sound effects that went along with the video transitions. These promo videos haven’t been posted online yet but I’ll add a link to view them once Wildstar’s posted them up.

A Journey with Strange Bedfellows: Sound Designer, Sound Effects Editor, Foley Recordist, and Foley Editor

This four (4) part episodic Gothic horror audio drama was conceived and written by writer, Jan C.J. Jones as adapted from (or inspired by) immortal works written by literary masters Nathaniel Hawthorne, Bram Stoker, Jack London, Jerome K. Jerome, Wilkie Collins, and Hector Hugh Munro (aka, Saki).

“A Journey with Strange Bedfellows” was a featured listening selection, as a Mark Time Ogle Award finalist (horror category), at the HEAR Now Audio Fiction & Arts Festival. Raygun Rocketship and Elemental Lords – Video Games: Sound Designer for Raygun Rocketship and ADR Recordist for Elemental Lords

I’ve been designing all of the sound for Raygun Rocketship, created by the team at Stigma Games. Although it’s still in early Alpha production, it was recently showcased at SacAnime.

I also did all of the dialogue recording for another one of their upcoming releases called Elemental Lords. I’ll post more about both of these games as they get closer to completing and releasing them.

Playing back the dialogue recordings for the voice talent.

Playing back some takes for the voice talent at the Elemental Lords ADR session.

Herbert West Versus The Martians: Sound Designer, Sound Effects Editor, Foley Recordist, Foley Editor, and Re-Recording Mixer

This is a special episode of Our Fair City, entitled Herbert West Versus The Martians (A Tale of Our Fair City). I recorded and designed nearly all of the sounds in Herbert West versus The Martians. The Heat Ray sound in this episode — like many other sounds that I’ve designed — was created by running my guitar through several vintage effects pedals.

Sound Design and Mixing Contest

This was my entry into a sound design & mixing contest several years ago that was hosted by Boy Meets Film and sponsored by Ric Viers of Blastwave FX, who also judged the contest. I won 2nd place in the competition and received 2 of his SFX libraries — Zombie Apocalypse, and Heroes & Villains. Very cool!

I’ll continue to post links to newer projects that I’ve worked on as I complete them. In the meantime, please feel free to listen to a few excerpts from some of my recent field recordings and sound design clips that I’ve posted to SoundCloud.
